Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles. The announcement came on Monday night as a black-and-white video: Jay-Z in the stands with a goat in his lap, "Public Service Announcement" playing underneath. The caption read: "GOAT's out of the bag."

He has had a hand in this decision for a while. Since 2019 his company Roc Nation has worked with the NFL on the halftime show, a period that brought Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny to the stage. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that when the league first reached its agreement with Roc Nation, he "had just one request: that JAŸ-Z take the stage himself one day."

Back to SoFi

SoFi has hosted a Roc Nation halftime show before. In February 2022, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar took the stage for Super Bowl LVI, with 50 Cent and Anderson Paak joining them. It was the first Super Bowl halftime show with hip-hop at the centre of the entire performance.

Jay-Z was behind it, not on stage.

Four years later, he returned to SoFi for two sold-out nights closing JAŸ-Z 30, his year-long celebration of 30 years of *Reasonable Doubt*. On Saturday 24 October, Snoop Dogg joined him for “Murder Was the Case”, before Dr. Dre appeared for “The Next Episode”, “California Love”, “Nothin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” and “Still D.R.E.”

Two of the 2022 headliners were now guests at his own show. Two days later, the NFL announced him as the next halftime headliner.

The show

Roc Nation executive produces. Hamish Hamilton directs. He has directed nearly every halftime show since 2010, including the 2022 one at SoFi, and also directed Jay-Z: In Concert in 2003.

"From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey," Jay-Z said. "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage."

No guests or setlist have been confirmed. The game airs on ESPN, ABC and Disney+ in the US, with NFL+ on mobile and a Spanish-language broadcast on Univision. In the UK it is on Sky Sports NFL.

Reasonable Doubt came out in 1996 on Roc-A-Fella, the label he co-founded with Damon Dash and Kareem Burke. Thirty years later, Jay-Z is finally stepping onto the stage he spent seven years helping shape.
