Corrections.
We would much rather be corrected than stay wrong.
Why
A lot of what we publish comes from people who were in the room: photographers, tour crew, volunteers, the artists themselves. That is the whole point, and it is also exactly where a wrong venue, a wrong date or a misspelled name gets in.
Readers catch things. Artists catch things. Somebody who was standing three metres to the left of our photographer catches things. When that happens we want to hear about it, and we want the fix to be visible rather than tidy.
What we do
- 01We fix the error on the page itself, not in a reply somewhere else.
- 02We leave a dated note at the bottom of the piece saying what it used to say.
- 03We do not quietly rewrite a published piece and pretend it always read that way.
- 04We do not delete a piece to make an error go away.
- 05We reply to you, including when we look into it and decide the piece was right.
Typos, broken links and clumsy sentences we just fix. The dated note is for facts: names, dates, venues, numbers, who did what.
What to send
- 01A link to the piece, and which line or paragraph is wrong.
- 02What it should say instead.
- 03Where you know it from, if there is somewhere we can check. A setlist, a press release, a photograph, your own memory of being there. All useful.
You do not need all three. A one-line email saying “that was not Paradiso” is plenty, and has happened.
Credit
A missing or wrong photographer credit counts as a factual error here, not a formatting issue. Every photograph on this site is supposed to carry the name of the person who took it. If one of ours does not, or carries the wrong name, tell us and we will treat it the same way as a wrong date.
Corrections so far
None yet. Nothing we have published has needed a factual correction after the fact. Things we catch before a piece goes out are just editing, and do not belong on this list. When one does, it will appear here.
