Ten 2027 tours in two weeks, and one apology

Ten acts announced 2027 tours in the past fortnight. Nearly all of them went bigger. One went smaller and said why.

The big ones

And then six

Charli XCX announced six dates for the whole of the UK and Europe. Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Amsterdam, Paris, with Audrey Hobert opening. Her comments filled up with fans asking why there were not more, and she answered them on Instagram.

"Touring is really emotionally and physically hard for me," she wrote, after her comments filled with fans asking why there were not more. "I am just not one of those human beings and I never have been."

She apologised for it: "Perhaps one day I will be built for the kind of touring you expect from me but right now I am not." In June she had said publicly that she was in the worst place mentally she had been in her life.

Of the ten, hers is the only announcement that came with a reason attached.

What changed about the tickets

The dates got most of the attention. The ticketing changes might be the more interesting part, and both are answers to the dynamic pricing row that followed the last Oasis run.

Harry Styles put it in writing himself: "Dynamic pricing and platinum pricing will not be utilised on this tour." No platinum tickets at all, artist-set all-in prices for general admission in every market, and a tier of twenty-pound tickets underneath. Oasis came at it from the other end. No general on-sale and no public presales, only registration, with successful registrants given a personal code and an assigned window.

One is about the price. The other is about the queue. Both exist because of what happened the last time.
