A visa mix-up became FKA twigs' new song with Lil Yachty

Some of the best music comes out of things going wrong. FKA twigs has a new song, “On Your Mind” with Lil Yachty, and the story behind it is half the reason it lands.

It is her first release of 2026, produced by DJH. She wrote it the same evening she found out that her previous manager and production team had not secured her visas in time, which cancelled her Coachella set and the rest of her EUSEXUA US tour. A long dance rehearsal, a cancelled tour, and then a song with Yachty before the night was over.

twigs put it plainly:

Pain can manifest into the hardest and most euphoric sonics.

That is the whole thing in one line. The setback became the material. The track itself is dream-pop turned inward, her futuristic R&B against Yachty's looser, melodic side. It does not play like a complaint. It plays like someone who took a bad week and made something out of it.

She says there is more coming soon. For now, “On Your Mind” is out, and it is a small reminder that a setback is sometimes just unreleased material.
