Chlapecka at Modus Berlin 2026: a drag opener, rhinestoned CDs and "Brain"
// Katie Ramsay · 2 min read
Concertgoers gathered at Kreuzberg-locale, Modus, on Sunday, October 11th, for the Berlin stop of Chlapecka's "Girl on the Moon" tour. Audience members were welcomed to a classic industrial-style Berlin club, with low ceilings, gender-neutral bathrooms, and a merch stand that included CDs of "Christine: High Voltage" hand-rhinestoned by Chrissy herself.

The opening act was also Chrissy
Shortly after 8:30pm, Chrissy's voice came over the loudspeakers to welcome the audience to the show with an introduction of the opening act: Chrissy's drag persona, who took to the stage with a high-energy burlesque appetiser.

Moments later, another voiceover filled the room to welcome Chrissy to the stage once more for the opening song of the set: "Brain", one of my personal favourites from her debut album. Joined by two back-up dancers, Molly and Ally, Chrissy and her ensemble captivated the audience with drag-inspired choreography to match a setlist lathered in hyperpop.

From BimboTok to the stage
After initially climbing to social media fame as one of the pioneers of "BimboTok" during the 2020 pandemic, Chrissy quickly amassed a loyal following of "girls, gays, and theys" who were quick to embrace her music when her first EP, "Girlie Pop", came out in 2024.

Chrissy's charming personality, that drew many early supporters to her social media channels, shone through in her enticing stage presence. As she made her way through the set, audiences were mesmerised by one hyper-pop ballad after another, including most of Chrissy's debut album, "Christine" and fan favourites like "Cherry do you love me?", "Clam Casino", and "BRAT".

Next stop: arenas?
Chrissy proved to the intimate Berlin club that her performance capabilities were comparable to that of other well-established vocal powerhouses like Lady Gaga and Chappell Roan. I wouldn't be surprised to see Chrissy escalate from this intimate, self-financed tour to playing to sold-out arenas in the years to come.
